This story is one repeated in my dreams so many nights it hurts. The man of this story, like so many others before him and many more after, was once just a boy. A boy that knew only what the world wanted from him in his 14 years of life, but knew nothing of what he wanted for himself, of what made him happy. He went all this time going through the motions of life until someone extraordinary came in and ruptured his worldview. This person gave him kindness and genuine feelings of true friendship, and they grew closer and closer every day. One day, they went and began dating another mutual friend, and the boy encouraged it because he trusted the both of them. Little did he know that the mutual friend would abuse and sexually harass them, all without the boy’s knowledge. While this was happening, the boy met another girl, a mutual friend of him and his best friend, and she enticed him to start dating her, against his better judgment and will. The boy and his best friend both went through nasty breakups with their respective partners and the entire friend group broke apart as a byproduct. Only the two of them remained fiends, but the boy, now turned a man, has developed feelings for his best friend, and cannot get them out of his mind. This man wants nothing more than to express his feeling to them, but walks such a fine line towards it. The effects can either be heavenly or devastating, and the man cannot lose his best friend, or his life would unravel completely. His life and mind now only circles back to them, and he wants nothing more than to break that cycle, but he never could.
This dream seems to reflect feelings of longing, betrayal, confusion, and a desire for connection. It appears to be a symbolic representation of the dreamer's emotional journey and experiences with relationships.
The dream suggests that the dreamer has often found themselves in situations where they prioritize what others want or expect from them, rather than considering their own desires and happiness. The introduction of the extraordinary person represents a significant change in the dreamer's life, someone who brings kindness and genuine friendship. However, this newfound connection becomes complicated when they start dating another mutual friend, who ends up abusing and harassing them. This may symbolize a sense of betrayal and a loss of trust in relationships.
The introduction of another girl, against the dreamer's better judgment and will, could signify the dreamer succumbing to societal pressure or external influences that lead them into a relationship they are not fully invested in. The breakup and subsequent breakdown of the friend group indicate the consequences of these unhealthy dynamics.
The dream then focuses on the evolving relationship between the dreamer (now a man) and his best friend. The dreamer has developed romantic feelings for their friend, which they struggle to express out of fear of losing the friendship and disrupting their life. This internal conflict creates a cycle where the dreamer's life and thoughts revolve around this unspoken attraction.
Overall, this dream suggests a yearning for genuine connections, struggles with trust and vulnerability, and a fear of losing important relationships. It may be highlighting the need for the dreamer to prioritize their own desires and pursue self-fulfillment rather than conforming to societal expectations or sacrificing their own happiness.
