I found myself at a concert venue with stage access. I seemed to be the only member of staff by the stage. I looked down at my lanyard. I realised I was stage manager. Lizzo was the next act. I was worried people would boo her so I walked her onto the stage and I walked all the way to the other side of the stage clapping to encourage the crowd. She played her first song, then came and stood with her team in a group. She’s upset and looks like maybe she’s having a panic attack. Whilst I’m waiting for her to go back on, I look at my schedule. The times are confused and seem to be shifting. The next act I have to stage manage is Brene Brown. The schedule doesn’t say which venue. I realise I’m at my old workplace the Barbican with so many different venues. I then go out to a lobby with leaflets and more information. I feel urgent, like I will be late. I’m googling the event, trying to find out more information. I look in a book for details. It’s a cookbook and I ask a young guy if he cooks. He said yes but there’s no method to it. He is attractive. I continue to look and time passes, I get more and more frustrated. I can’t find the event listed anywhere. I find another reception with someone working on it. He calls me a taxi to take me there. He tells me the name of the venue and the street we are on, I can’t quite catch what he’s saying. I go outside to wait for the cab. I pop into a Tesco metro. There’s a group of teenage girls in there and one repeats “we didn’t come here to waste money on water when we can get it for free at home”. She’s parroting what her mum would say and the girls laugh. I am looking for water, spring water. There’s smart water but I don’t want that. I pick up a green glass bottle and inspect the label. I think it’s raspberry juice but can’t tell exactly. Probably not what I want, put it back. I leave to try and find the can but now I’m unsure of the direction and it’s raining. I try to cross the road but there’s traffic.
