I dreamt that I was in Taekwondo class, and I had to take a test. I was not ready for the test, but I told the instructor that I would take the test anyway. He agreed, and had one of the junior instructors test me. We had to choose weapons, and I chose a weapon that I had never used before. Right before testing, I asked if I could switch to a more familiar weapon, but the junior instructor refused to let me change my choice. I took the test, and did horribly. When I was done, the junior instructor told me that I was good at looking terrible, and I failed. I cried. When my instructor saw me crying, he was going to yell at the junior instructor. I stopped him, and told him not to yell at the junior instructor. I was about to tell him why he should not yell at the junior instructor, but I woke up. I wanted to tell my instructor that I needed to learn from this failure, but I did not get the chance to.
This dream may reveal feelings of insecurity and self-doubt in your abilities and a fear of failure. The Taekwondo class and the test represent a challenge or obstacle in your waking life that you may not feel prepared for. The fact that you were not ready for the test, yet decided to go through with it anyway, suggests a willingness to face challenges even when you feel unprepared.
The choice of a weapon you had never used before symbolizes unfamiliar territory or circumstances you may encounter. It implies that you may be venturing into something new or taking on a task that is outside your comfort zone.
Asking to switch to a more familiar weapon but being refused by the junior instructor suggests a lack of control or influence over the situation. It may reflect a feeling of being forced to adapt to unfamiliar circumstances without being given the opportunity to rely on your strengths.
Your poor performance in the test and the junior instructor's comment about looking terrible represent a fear of judgment or criticism from others, particularly in relation to your abilities or performance. This may stem from a fear of not meeting expectations or being perceived as incapable.
Crying in response to the failure indicates disappointment and emotional distress caused by the test results. Your desire to protect the junior instructor from being yelled at suggests a level of empathy and compassion towards others, even in moments of personal disappointment.
Overall, this dream may be highlighting your concerns about facing challenges, feeling unprepared, and the fear of failure or judgment. It may also reflect your desire to learn from mistakes and protect others from harsh criticism. Consider how these themes relate to your waking life circumstances and see if there are any insights or actions you can take to address these feelings of insecurity or fear.
