I went to the pub with someone I was at school with, who I used to have a crush on at school as he was a nice guy and quite cool. At the pub it was incredibly loud - there was a very loud repetitive banging noise that sounded like a washing machine going round with something very heavy inside it. We found a place to sit with difficulty, we had to squeeze past an old man. My old school acquaintance got out his wallet as though he was going to pay for the drinks, but I said I would pay, as he had last time, and I asked what he wanted to drink. But it was so loud in the pub that I couldn’t really understand what he wanted - I heard something but it didn’t sound like a drink that I knew. I didn’t want to ask him to repeat himself more than once so I decided to just go up to the bar and try and repeat what he had said, and if that didn’t work then I would get two different pints of beer and he could have whichever he wanted and I would have the other. When I went up to the bar to order the washing machine noise was getting louder and faster, it was deafening. The pub was also quite dark like a club. I didn’t manage to order before the noise became deafening and then stopped, winding down like the washing machine cycle had finished. Blue light and smoke came out from a door and screen to the left of the bar, where the noise was coming from. All the pub staff left the bar and went over there and high fived each other and the owner with relief, they clapped. I smiled at them from the bar, also relieved the noise had stopped.
This dream could symbolize some themes of communication and the desire for connection. The person you were at the pub with represents a past crush, suggesting that there may be unresolved or unfulfilled emotions connected to this person or your experiences during that time. The loud and repetitive banging noise, resembling a washing machine, could symbolize overwhelming and distracting external influences that hinder clear communication.
The difficulty finding a place to sit and having to squeeze past an old man may represent obstacles or challenges in finding a comfortable and secure position in your relationships or social interactions. The confusion in understanding what your acquaintance wanted to drink highlights the difficulty in understanding and connecting with others in the midst of chaos and noise.
Your willingness to pay for the drinks reflects a sense of responsibility and care for the other person, as well as a desire for reciprocity. However, the inability to clearly comprehend the drink order suggests a potential difficulty in effectively meeting the other person's needs or understanding their desires, possibly due to external distractions or internal confusion.
The intensifying noise and darkness in the pub, similar to a club, could represent an overwhelming or chaotic atmosphere in your social life or relationships. The abrupt stop of the noise, followed by blue light and smoke, suggests a sudden change or resolution. The pub staff leaving the bar to celebrate implies a sense of relief or resolution from the previous chaos, which is mirrored in your own relief in response to the noise stopping.
Overall, this dream may be reflecting a struggle to effectively communicate and connect with others in a noisy and chaotic environment. It may suggest a need for clarity, understanding, and a release from external distractions in order to foster meaningful connections and resolve unresolved emotions from the past.
