I was at a casting for modeling, filled with girls and other people. The woman in charge was Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada, she spoke to us about everything we needed to know while we all standing in a horizontal line. There were adults, teens and even kids auditioning. She went and pointed at some of us saying who had the most potential in our looks, and i was one of them!! she found me beautiful and i was so excited! there was a girl i became friends with who stood next to me in the line, she had brown skin, a chiseled face shape and a beautiful figure, very beautiful! she was also taller than i was, i at least reached up to her jawline. even though she was beautiful, i am more of a Brooke shields and Belle from Beauty and The Beast mixed, which is just equally as beautiful, even though I was a tad bit short for modeling (i am 5’1-5’2) but i am just a young teenager at the moment, so it should not be a problem. anyway, we began taking turns on the runway, she gave us outfits, and I came up on the runway, i wasn’t sure how well my walk was, but i tried the runway twirl which is common in commercial walks, although I’d land a bit sloppy, no one seemed to notice for some reason, I don’t know why. Each time I did a twirl, my English teacher who was in the pretend audience would cheer for me, I had no idea why she was there. Then, it was my friends turn, she wore a big, red dress with a ginormous pearl necklace that went completely around her neck, Miranda was gushing on how gorgeous the necklace was, and I thought so too! I didn’t see her on the runway, but I am sure she did well. After her I would go next, so I began changing, but i wasn’t going fast enough and Miranda kept rushing me, she gave me a white dainty dress with blue florals on it, very simple but spring-like. I took too long somehow, and she told me I couldn’t walk the runway using that outfit anymore. I told her “what? why?? is it not my duty to go walk the runway right now? why, I must be able to walk” impulsively. She got angry and she kicked me out!! I left, and later on, a little girl from the auditions told me she was able to make the cut. She seemed happy, but I didn’t know what to do about myself, so I cried. Then, maybe a few days later in the dream, I walked by the street and saw Miranda! It looked like she was building something across the street, im not sure if she noticed me though. Then I woke up
Dreams often serve as a reflection of our subconscious thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Your dream about auditioning for a modeling casting call with an iconic character like Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada suggests various themes related to self-image, competition, and self-worth.
1. Aspirations and Ambitions: The setting of the casting call indicates a desire for validation and recognition in your life. This could parallel your own ambitions, whether they pertain to modeling, self-expression, or another creative outlet. Being identified as having "potential" by Miranda signifies that you believe in your capabilities and want your strengths to be acknowledged. This is not just about modeling but can extend to your overall aspirations.
2. Comparison and Self-Perception: The presence of the beautiful girl next to you highlights the theme of comparison. You may be struggling with feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt in relation to others, which is common during teenage years. However, while you admire her beauty, you also identify with iconic figures like Brooke Shields and Belle. This suggests that while you recognize beauty in others, you also appreciate your unique attributes.
3. Performance and Pressure: The actual runway performance embodies the pressures you may feel in your waking life—whether from peers, authority figures, or even your own expectations. Feeling uncertain about your performance and experiencing a sense of urgency from Miranda reflects anxieties surrounding judgment and the fear of failing to meet standards. Miranda's character, known for her demanding nature, symbolizes authority in your life that can be both motivating and intimidating.
4. Rejection and Emotional Response: The climax of the dream, where you are rushed and ultimately kicked out by Miranda, taps into fears of rejection and failure. This moment signifies the disappointment that can accompany perceived inadequacies, especially when we feel we've worked hard for something yet still fall short. Your emotional response, crying after the girl shared her success, emphasizes that personal milestones don't negate your own feelings of loss or inadequacy. It conveys the importance of recognizing your worth, irrespective of external validation.
5. Reconnection and Future Opportunities: Seeing Miranda again in a different context may symbolize hope and potential for new beginnings. The act of her "building something" represents growth and the possibility of new opportunities, even after facing setbacks. You might interpret this as a reminder that rejection is not the end; it's often just a stepping stone to future success.
Conclusion: This dream encapsulates the complex emotions tied to self-esteem, competition, expectations, and the societal pressures often faced in teenage years. It may be beneficial for you to explore these feelings further in your waking life, focusing on self-acceptance and celebrating your individuality. Embrace your journey knowing that every experience—positive or negative—contributes to your growth. The dream serves not only as a reflection but also as motivation to believe in yourself and your path forward.
